Auburn University- Master's program applications open

Auburn University's Department of Communication and Journalism is currently accepting applications to its Master's program for Fall 2011.

The department has a generalist program which allows students to personalize courses of study in Communication, Journalism, PR, and Radio/TV/Film.

Students can either intern or write a thesis depending on their future career goals. They have an excellent track record placing students in a wide variety of professional positions in organizations ranging from nonprofits and corporate media to government agencies and independent consulting. For those interested in pursuing a Ph.D., recent graduates have been accepted to doctoral programs at outstanding U.S. universities such as Texas (Austin), Purdue, and Kentucky.

Press freedom and responsibility course offered to South Asian journalists

South Asian journalists interested in press freedom can attend a training course.

The aim of the program is to enhance the quality of journalism in South Asia. The targeted participants are young journalists from news agencies and online media.

Applicants must be from the SAARC countries, have at least two years of professional experience and be fluent in English. Travel, room and living costs may be provided.

Digital journalism course offered in Singapore

Asian journalists interested in digital media can participate in a one-year academic program.

The course is designed to provide students with diverse digital journalism skills. It will cover multimedia, video production and editing, audio, software and equipment.

The program is the first in Asia to offer a Diploma in Digital Journalism. The first twenty students to enroll will receive a MacBook Pro and a Canon EOS 60D.

Internship available at UK newspaper

Young journalists can gain experience working for an international news desk in the United Kingdom.

The intern will help coordinate up and coming journalists, work directly with a managing editor and potentially write and research articles.

The internship is unpaid, and will last four to six months. Applicants must be a students or graduates of a journalism course, and be passionate about writing and journalism. A resume, cover letter and writing sample should be sent to international@freshties.com.

 
 

Fellowship in the US accepting applications

Mid-career journalists from across the globe are invited to apply for the Knight-Wallace Fellowship

The fellowship offers an academic year of study, with the opportunity for reflection and growth. Fellows will devise a personalized plan of study. A typical class includes twelve U.S. journalists and six international journalists.

Fellows receive US$70,000 for the eight-month program, and all trips, tuition and course fees are covered.
