Impede crying, image of weeping people, and wrecked homes and lands – portraits that draw thousands of deaths. These are just few manifestations of the growling nature. Climate changes at a very fast phase, it reacts violently and posses’ abilities that will lead into piles of cold bodies lying on devastated terrains. The world is bombarded with tons of natural calamities with the likes of Katrina, Ondoy (Ketsana) and Peping (Parma), these are names that almost erased cities and municipalities on the face of the earth – names that signify one devastating word: Climate Change.
Climate change is basically the change (be it abrupt or not) in the statistical distribution of weather in a certain period of time. Plain and simple to read but the message is indeed alarming for climate change is not as simple as change in an average distribution of weather but signifies devastation. This phenomenon is due to the altered concentration of those vital gases in our atmosphere that shaped our climate. Melt down of Ice bergs and Glaciers and the rising sea level accompanied by the disturbed weather systems are vital signs of climate change.

Nowadays different sectors in the society participate in resolving the problem. An advocacy group like Greenpeace actively participates in busting the means of pollution and climate change. Earth hour is a widely promoted strategy in solving global warming. Less heat is equal to mitigation of global warming and this could be translated into alleviation of primary problem.Green Architecture Advocacy Philippines on the other hand is also a key player among the advocacy group which promotes sustainable development of the built environment by focusing on the green policy in architectural aspect.
In the other fence is the governmental body: DENR (department of environment and natural resources) which primarily is the one responsible in formulating steps that will be able to materialize in order to ease the whining of Mother Nature. Coexisting with DENR is the newly constituted commission called CCC or the Climate Change Commission, a product of the Philippine Climate Change Act of 2009. This act aims pioneer climate change mitigation into broader government policy through a National Framework Strategy and Programme on Climate Change. Another government agency took a new step in contributing to the solution – The National Commission for Culture and the Arts. They believed that arts can never be set aside for it can be a medium in expression. Through their contest, they could pick a wide scope of messages from the participants that they could use in promoting ways to resolve the problem.
Aside from the “pioneers” in busting climate change, the business sectors are also of a helping hand in the process. Most of the CEOs agreed that they will promote green policy in the corporation. Starbucks and other Mall institutions have turned their Incandescents and Neons into LEDs. LED or Light Emitting Diodes are small lighting technology that is more energy efficient than the other lamps. It is also pretty obvious that stores offers paper bags instead of plastic bags. In the other hand the use of Styrofoams in fast food chains are lessen by introducing the use of paper boxes in burgers.
Technological companies like LG and Sony Ericsson made products that are energy-saving and CFC free. One tangible example are the SE Green Heart (C901) and Green Heart Naite which are made up of 50% recycled plastic casing accompanied by optimized light sensory with less electricity consumption.
We are the roots that nourish the tree of pollution – bearing a fruit called climate change. As the roots, we also need to take part in the solution process, we need to create another tree – tree of steps and ways that will help the earth and bust climate change. In our own little ways plus these new methods, we can be new roots – roots that will nourish the tree of Life.
