A FILIPINO’S VIEWPOINT
Camille Dyan I. Abadicio
“The youth is the hope of the nation.” Dr. Jose Rizal, Philippine National Hero
The world has been a huge circus of countless deceptive ideologies. The conventional principles are gradually being taken out of the scene. Since the Renaissance Era, there have been immeasurable innovations all across the globe in science and technology, arts and aesthetics, mathematics, music, communication, and the entirety of way of life.
Today, we live in the era of Mercury. In the different corners of the world, everything is fast-paced, freethinking, and the music of life plays in a remarkably upbeat rhythm. In spite of these advancements, there seem to be no way out of this incessant flow of changes. Reflecting on media, its liberation or freedom has gone beyond significant borders. The virtual world has expanded incredibly, as the major populace engaging in it is the crowd of fresh minds, vibrant ideas and ecstatic experiences: the youth, who are perceived to be the hope of the future.
Presently, the youth is in control. With its large populace among the citizens of the world, it is professed that they hold the power to move the world from one trend to another. It is speculated that the future largely depends on what principles and modernizations they shall enliven.
The media continuously spreads its power over horizons that are yet to be reached. With the youth as its key enthusiasts, its wildest potentials of more and more innovations are in its extreme possibility. The media provides an ultimate freedom to the youth that makes them value it more intensely as time goes by. It even gives the youth the power, through their fingertips, to go places and socialize with worthy individuals around the world via internet.
The youth performs an important role in the evolving world of media. I, myself, am a product of the ultramodern epoch of Mercury. I am a youth, and I am certainly a plausible witness to the constant pace of the changes occurring around me. With all my experiences in line with the unstoppable course of time and interaction among individuals, I have learned that the concept of ‘future’ nowadays is but a rollercoaster ride operated by the quick-moving world of the media.
Indeed, the enhancement of media and the creation of the virtual world gave birth to a milestone where the youth’s freedom of expression is amplified in various exceptional ways. However, there is a challenge posted among the youth: to ensure a vivid future across nations through the proper usage and realization of their freedom through media.
I am a dynamic communicator. I value media as an integral part of me. Its variety and flexibility never fail to amuse me and to make me feel a matchless kind of freedom which is unexplainable through words, but is absolutely a delightful mix of wonderful emotions.
As a believer of the endless possibilities of media as a tool in attaining triumphs beyond borders, I see freedom as a very significant key. It is the very instrument, which allows tremendous dreams, visions and aspirations to come to life. Without the essence of freedom, perhaps there is no concept of excellence and definitely no possibility of moving forward, among communicators, like me, who are wholehearted in striving to succeed in this field and to therefore be changemakers and worthy builders of a brilliant future to look forward to.
As I ponder upon these notable thoughts, I have come to realize the truest essence of freedom of young media to me as a communicator, a dreamer, and an aspiring achiever and prime mover of change. It is not just solely about expressing oneself freely and going through the flow of the sudden gush of technological advancements. It is a breakthrough. It is one’s own perception and execution of thoughts through the smart and discerning utilization of media to enliven these thoughts.
Amidst the unrivaled evolution of the media from generation to generation, I have grasped that indeed, the youth plays the fundamental role of upgrading the future of the media and its all-encompassing power, given their outstanding freedom to do so. But the probability of this progress is still an undeniable question of whether or not the youth shall make the intelligent, apt and critical moves to put the pieces of this puzzle perfectly in place.
Agreeably, the youth is the hope of the future. Sounding exaggeratingly optimistic? Well, this is how our national icons thought and moved to make a significant change in our country. This is how President Ninoy Aquino envisioned his nation to feel and think, to be able to surpass a rude dictatorship and to accomplish freedom through the very first bloodless revolution across the globe. This is the principle which our heroes kept in their hearts to wholeheartedly fight for our country and achieve freedom from the abusive colonizers who were wrong in thinking that we will be their slaves forever.
Integrating my precious pieces of learning from my history classes to the freedom of the youth through media, I must say it is always right to be selfless in trying to grasp a certain goal. The selflessness of the prominent people I have mentioned can be brought about the issues we are facing today. As one of the valuable youth advocating a triumphant future through the freedom imposed by the absolute power of media, I commit myself to unceasingly strive and push forth my efforts of being one with all the other youth from the different corners of the world acquiring a communal goal to affect diverse patterns of life in a positive light globally, towards a truthfully victorious future for all.
